Once you’ve reached the fundraising minimum, you’ll get to choose your night – you can make it a birthday, holiday, memorial or any day that is special to you. Please see our Calendar for available dates.
Proceeds from Light a Night campaign directly support The Bay Lights exhibition and its presenting organization, Illuminate the Arts, in its mission to promote the ongoing creation and presentation of community-activating public art.
On your night you will receive:
- The name of your choice appears on The Bay Lights Live Stream on your night
- Your name will live forever on your night’s 3-minute segment in our video archive
- Your Light a Night story will be listed as an Event on thebaylights.org
- Get a shout out on our Facebook page and Twitter feed
- Amazing Rally Rewards through the generosity of our Business Activation Network
- Please note that Holiday Contests require a $5,000 fundraising minimum.
How to start your Rally
STEP 1: BECOME A FAN
Sign up here to be a Fan Fundraiser and Light a Night for THE BAY LIGHTS!
STEP 2: PERSONALIZE
Personalize your Rally page with a picture of yourself. Click "Save" then "RALLY.org" to return to your Rally.
STEP 3: SHARE YOUR RALLY
You're ready to accept donations! Click "Share your rally" in the yellow bar on your page to update Facebook and Twitter.
STEP 4: FIND SUPPORTERS
Now click "Find supporters" in your page's yellow bar to enter email addresses and tell the world about your Rally!
STEP 5: SPREAD THE WORD
Click "Feed" to write email announcements, add photos or videos, then click "Send" — and post updates often!
STEP 6: TRACK YOUR RALLY
Click "Dashboard" to see dollars raised, number of supporters and more to help you reach your goal.
Raise More, Get More!
Compete to Light a Night on high-profile holidays like Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Christmas and Hanukkah for a chance to win our best Rally Rewards from the Bay Lights Business Activation Network partners including Blue & Gold Fleet, Casa Madrona Hotel and Spa, Chaya Brasserie, Epic Roasthouse, Hornblower Yachts, Hotel Vitale, The Punch Line, SF Bulls, TCHO Chocolate, and Waterbar.
Sign up for a Light the Night Holiday Contest of your choice and pledge to raise $5,000 minimum for The Bay Lights. Whoever raises the most over $5,000 by the deadline date (one month before the holiday night) wins the night and a package of brilliant gifts. Next top fundraisers over $5000 also receive a package of brilliant gifts and another night of their choice. Remember it is a race and you’re up against others to raise the most to win the night!
Tips for a Successful Rally
We’ve provided a draft message for you to use to announce your Light a Night campaign, but feel free to use your own words! For best results, send a message to your supporters a few times a week over the course of your fundraising, letting them know why it’s important to you to raise funds for this amazing cause! Be sure to click the Twitter and Facebook boxes to sync your fundraising page, so that clicking “Send” will trigger an email notification to supporters and post a link on Facebook and Twitter. Send photos, videos and messages as often as you can. Tell a story. What’s your favorite place to watch The Bay Lights? Shoot a video telling why. Let people know what your night means to you. This is a proven way to raise more money.
